Indices Research & Development
In EMARDEV, we have created a novel methodology and indices incorporating indices that measure Emarat al-ard, a concept that offers a comprehensive, balanced, and inclusive form of sustainable development, which is inspired by the objectives (maqasid) of Islam. The indices R&D research group objectives are to continuously home and develop its methodology, indices, and metrics; conduct Countries Performance Analysis, and issue periodical reports.
Universal Objectives & Interfaith Dialogue
The historic Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together, signed by the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-tayyeb and Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in Feb 2019, recognised and invited all people to recognise that men and women across the world are brothers and sisters with equal rights, duties and dignity, and entrusted with a noble responsibility to care for all vulnerable people for the whole of creation. The Universal Objectives & Interfaith research group objectives are to help in promoting peace and social cohesion, justice and equality, as well as freedom and tolerance through cooperation and knowledge sharing from different faith perspectives to allow for a more inclusive, and comprehensive development.
Future Generations Empowernment
For the whole community to develop, and for the objectives of Emarat al-ard to be achieved, one has to start at the small unit level, which is what this research group is devoted towards studying. This is one of EMARDEV’s research groups that has a micro-level focus, oriented towards studying family wellbeing and generation empowerment.
Lives Enrichment
At the core of any developmental effort is securing and guaranteeing an acceptable and favourable quality of life. In order to achieve the objectives of Emarat al-ard, it is essential to ensure the provision of the most basic and necessary needs aspects of life that are key to enabling a respectable quality of life for all. This Lives Enrichment research group objectives are to safeguard and enrich human lives through the maintenance and provision of such basic needs from food and health to housing and security.
Environment ProtectionÂ
Climate change deviates our planet from its balance, negatively impacting the environment while causing much harm to human beings. The Environment Protection research group’s research focus is on the role that the environment plays in the contribution to development. This research group objecties is to study the impact of climate change on Emarat al-ard by exploring different areas and their influence such as renewable energy, circular economy, carbon measurement, and environmental accounting.
Wealth Preservation

Education & Intellectual Enlightenment
Education enables every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future for himself, his family, community and environment. The Education and Intellectual Enlightenment research group focuses on feeding and developing the minds of individuals through education and innovation. To flourish, both the mental wellbeing and intellectual knowledge levels have to grow, and this research group’s objectives are to study how the promotion of quality education, development of pedagogy, and the protection of mental health could influence sustainable development and impact Emarat Al-Ard.
Spiritual & Moral Elevation
For Emarat al-Ard objectives to be achieved and prosperity to be promoted at the community level, goals have to first begin with the individual by strengthening and elevating morals and spiritual health. For that reason, this research group studies how to best promote virtues such as compassion, and temperance, as well as acts of charity and altruism and the impacts of such virtues and other faith-based perspectives on sustainable development.
